About Psoriasis: The Facts
Psoriasis is a non-contagious skin disease that affects almost 10 million people across North America. It causes inflamed lesions or blisters that can be painful. People with black skin are rarely affected by psoriasis. About 250,000 people are diagnosed each year with psoriasis in North America. The average age at diagnosis is 28, but people of any age can be afflicted. Inflammation will come and go in these patients, but with the present state of medical knowledge, the disease itself is for life. There's no known cure.
